One of the approximately 2,000 Spider by Touring has resurfaced for sale after a 25-year slumber. It’s not in great condition, but we’ve seen worse—much worse.
In fact, unlike many we’ve come across (including one we restored to an excellent aesthetic result, though financially disastrous), this car doesn’t seem to have been seriously affected by rust. This is likely because it spent most of its life in a dry climate, which is great news for anyone looking to bring this stunning vehicle back to its former glory.
First and foremost, the new owner will need to compile a thorough list of present and missing parts. Spare parts for this car are anything but cheap and make up a significant portion of the restoration cost. However, the rarest components seem to be there. We can’t see the dashboard well enough to assess its completeness, and keep in mind that if the four main gauges are missing, replacing them would cost over $1,500—assuming you can even find them, and then they’ll need restoration. Some exterior trim pieces and hubcaps are missing (they are available on the market but at a steep price), and we don’t see the radiator, but overall, the “meat” is there. Find it for sale at $24,000 here in Glendale, CA.

In one of the photos it appears that at least 3 of the gauges are there.
