If the base BMW 2002 had been asked: “What do you want to be when you grow up?” it would surely have answered “a Turbo”, or at least this is what every owner of E9 is told.
The 2002 Turbo is indeed an iconic car more because of its looks than its performance (although 170 hp in 1973 was a very important number). This particular car started out as a standard 2002, Euro spec, powered by a single carburetor and a much more “civilized” look than it does now.
Air dam, wide fenders, large and wide rims and a typical Turbo color scheme: these are the external features while the interior, also completely redone, features a custom built roll cage and new bucket seats. The engine compartment also reserves surprises: aluminum radiator, rebuilt engine, a more performing camshaft, new clutch / flywheel assembly and modified suspension.
