This strange coupé was built, as you can easily imagine, by one person, not in Stuttgart but in a neighboring city, Kaiserslautern.
It’s a mix between Porsche, Karmann Ghia and the fantasy of the German craftsman who decided 60 years ago to build his “dream car” based on what evidently inspired him. The body is made of steel but the doors, hood and deck lid are made of aluminum. The chassis is a 1958 Karmann Ghia while the engine and brakes come from a 1959 Porsche.
We have little idea how this car ended up in the USA, the fact is that since it was found it has received a lot of attention: it has been featured on Petrolicious and The Barn Find Hunter, as well as being a participant in the 2017 edition of the Luftgekuhlt. Difficult to give value to this car and, in fact, the asking price is not shown. Find it for sale here in Aguanga, CA.
I asked him, he’s asking $100,000 for it.

Not cheap at all, as we supposed…

Hello from Germany, I just talked to the guy who built this Coupe back around 1960 in Kaiserslautern together with a few other students. So it should now be easy to get detailed information on the background. I will try to get the whole story.
