Subtle differences: 1960 Abarth 750 Spyder by Zagato

This little Abarth belongs to the large family of 750 cc of displacement for which the tuner of Turin became so famous.

But the peculiarity of this car is to be an uncommon spider, in fact most of the cars caressed by Zagato were coupes, since the coachbuilder’s production was focused on speed racing and in this context the body coupé was more aerodynamic.

And yet, there is something related to this machine that leaves us perplexed: we are well aware that Zagato produced a small series of Spyder 750 but the photos of the era depict a slightly different body, especially in the rear end. Obviously Zagato’s production was so customizable that we can not rule out that some customers have asked for changes to the original design, so we do not have the solution to this puzzle. In the meantime, find it for sale at €85,000 (today $96,000) here in Bon-Encontre, France. Thanks to Bertrand for this tip!

  1. Examining the french ad, the car is described first as made in 1960, then a following note reports 1957 as production year. MI 364220 license plate should have been released between November and December 1957, thus matching the second description.
