Just like many 356 Roadster, also this T5 (cassis #89472) has been built by the belgian shop D’Itieren which, many could not know, is still in the business.
D’Itieren is indeed one of the oldest – maybe the oldest – coachworks company in the world as it was founded in 1805 and during the sixties they built (along with Drautz) the body for the 356 Roadster which should have been the “Speedster” of the sixties: unfortunately this never happened.
It’s not a matching number car although the acual engine has numbers very close to the original equipment, on the other side who buy this car bus also a stash of brand new body parts to complete the work wich has begun. As you can imagine the asking price is not low but it’s stll fair if you want to drive the car restored by you. Find it for sale at $95,000 here in North Ferrisburgh, VT.
