This E-Type Open Two Seater is a series 1.5, (chassis 1E-15625) so it’s basically a series one with few, minor changes. The seller says that it’s a former U.S. car which is in Europe since 1990. The clear attempt of the former owner was to build a tribute to the factory Lightwight cars which ran in the GT series during the sixties: must say that such attempy has been quite successful.
Indeed the bonnet has been modified to accomodate two additional headlights covered with plexiglas. Also the fenders have been modified with flares joined to the body with a lot of rivets: no words about the material which such flares are made of. Interiors look nice but we wonder why the former owner didn’t cover those sporty seats with a leather of the same color of the interior trim. The steering wheel too could be replaced with another one with a proper period look.
The E-Type engine is worth to be exhibited in a museum: this one has also stainless steel headers: the seller don’t say anything about that so we suppose that it has not been tuned: however, 265 h.p. are way enough to have fun. Probably the asking price is a little optimistic for a heavily modified car but boy, we like it however. Find it for sale at €82,000 (today $107,000) here in Biarritz, France.
