In the same moment I’m writing this article, pre-bumper Porsche’s prices are so high that even a “basic” 912 at this price can be considered a good deal.
It is said to be a rust free 912 which has been stored during the last 17 years. It is clearly an US model, probably been driven for all its life in southern California. Indeed the photos show a fair undercarriage and a good luggage area/battery tray: these areas are the first to go in case of rust.
The good is also that the seller says that the car has a 6808 color code which, for a 1968 912, means Burgundy, which wears perfectly the lines of the 912. Interiors need some work too as there is an awful steering wheel and two Recaro seats which must be re-upholstered. That being said, it’s for sure a very good basis for a restoration or something else, like with a flat six on the back. Find it for sale at $19,500 here in Orange County, CA.
