You can be a veteran of many things, some very unpleasant, some a little less, and some decidedly fun. Fortunately for this car, its past is linked not to a war, but to the Mille Miglia.
The edition we are talking about is that of 1955, which saw Stirling Moss as absolute winner at the wheel of the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR, at an astonishing average speed of 157 km / h (97.5 mph), and Claude Storez on a DB Panhard HBR in the same class in which this Moretti 750 competed. For the record, seven Moretti 750s took part in that edition.
We don’t know which of those seven is this car, but the seller says that participation in that edition is documented, so we have no reason to have doubts about this issue. Apparently the car was restored in 2000 and in 2002 it was exhibited at Pebble Beach. This is certainly not a car to be used on a daily basis but, for an enthusiast, it is enough to keep it in the garage and be gratified at the mere sight of the little twin cam jewel under the hood. Find it for sale at €295,000 (today $323,000) here in Amstel, Netherland.
