We have often published kit-cars produced with fiberglass body built between the mid-fifties and mid-seventies, and among all those published this is perhaps the one we like most.

This is the body produced by the Alken Corporation, founded in venice, CA, by some Aerospace Engineer. The seller, who seems to have done a lot of research on this company (we really like this approach), argues that probably only 25 bodies were produced, made to fit the VW Beetle chassis. This very car appeared in a R & T test in November of 1958, the seller says.

The car was – as is evident – completely restored using a gearbox and a 1600 cc engine taken from a 1958 Porsche, in general the seller states that all items used during the rebuild were period correct. Last but not least, managed to re-created by dash logo with 3D printing: realyy not bad at all. Find it for sale at $ 84,000 here in Greentown, PA.
