Late car: 1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider Veloce

We didn’t know that the Giulietta Veloce was built even in 1963: those were the years of the Giulia but actually few 1300 c.c. were built in that year.

Update: see comment below

This one is a late series Veloce which is actually offered as a car to be restored: it was probably born in white or pale grey with red interiors: now it is covered by an undefined shade of dark red/maroon which actually doesn’t give justice to a car which needs thousands of man hours of work.

Of course the car misses its twin carburetors set: they are the DCOE2 type which are valuable as they were installed also on the Giulia Sprint Speciale, the same for the air filter assembly. The engine should be a Type 106 121 but the seller doesn’t mention it: apart from these things the car needs bumpers (expensive but easy to find) and a lot of metal work. Find it for sale at $29,500 here in Los Angeles, CA.

  1. I wrote to the BHCC and asked for chassis and engine numbers. This car is mislabeled as a Giulietta Spider when in reality it is a Giulia Veloce 390682. It was built sometime in May 1965 and is only 3 cars from mine. The block is not matching. The photos show extensive rust, This is one of the few Giulia’s that survives, so there is great potential. Most everything is available as reproductions including the air filter box. I hope the new owner contacts me to help with the history of the car. Such a shame to have that all go away.
