This is an american delivery Merak SS as it’s clearly visible by the side markers and the D.o.T. approved bumpers which, on the front, look like the jaws of an insect.
Indeed back in the seventies and the eighies, many euro cars must install bumpers which were able to absorb impact up to 5 mph without any damage: that was a good thing but all the euro cars, not designed for the american market, had to adopt many ridiculous bumpers to be sold in the U.S.
Apart from such bumpers, this Merak 3000 looks actually good: the paint look shiny and the body doesn’t look to have any major flaw; all the outside equipment (bumpers, taillights, rims and other stuff) look original on this car which is said to have been purchased in 1999 by the first owner. Unfortunately no photos of the interiors or engine bay have been provided but we guess that these areas should be as good as the outside. Find it for sale at $25,000 here in Bartlett, IL.
