This was the cabriolet version of the latest Simca Aronde model, produced from 1957 to 1962. Bizzarrelly this car was not called “Plein Ciel” (open sky) like its coupé sister.
Alle these cars were assembled by Facel Metallon: this complicated assembly process made these cars to cost more than the double of their sedan sisters which shared the same chassis and engine: that’s why these are now quite rare cars.
This particular car has not a seductive paint color: probably the photos could be better but for sure this wasn’t the best color for this car, even back then. Of course nothing prevents you to repaint it but for us originality comes first. This car has a valuable set of Robergél wire wheels and it is said to have a new soft top, interiors, exhaust, brake sand many other parts: compared with similar open cars of the same period and level, at last its asking price seems fair. Find it for sale at €31,000 (today $35,000) here in Sainte-Maxime, France.
