Here we are dealing with a rare car, but at the same time an almost desperate case.
It is in fact a Glas 1300 GT, a German one designed by the Frua workshops in Turin at a time when German houses relied on Italian designers who knew what they were doing, and in fact this little car has one of the most beautiful designs of its era for with regards to utility vehicles. Even if, in the end, the price of this car wasn’t that much for a “small car”.
And up to here is the description of the model, the bad news begins when you look at this car in particular which, although it comes from California – as the seller claims – is in such a condition that it actually appears to come from the Rust Belt. There is rust above, below and on the sides, the passenger compartment is dead (albeit complete) and the engine is there but in pieces in the trunk: in short, it is a car that should be restored only if the buyer is able to do much of the work needed in his garage, especially the metal work which alone makes up 70% of the cost of a restoration of this type. Find it for sale here in Yucca Valley, CA, with bidding at $5,000 and reserve not met.
