One of the problems that often happens to those who are restoring a Spider Veloce is the absence of the original engine. There is the possibility of finding them around but often at extremely high prices: here instead we have a cheaper option.
The engine is that of a second series Veloce produced starting from 1960, completely rebuild but quite complete, including the Weber 40 DCOE2 carburettors, also used on the Giulia SS and Giulia Spider Veloce. But that’s not all: the sale also includes a gearbox and an intake plenum which, although belonging to a 105 series, still has a certain value.
Sure, the engine and gearbox need to be rebuilt entirely, yet when we consider that the pair of carburetors alone is worth around $ 1,500 (and we’re talking about a price for carburetors in a condition to be restored), the package is absolutely competitively priced. Find it for sale at $8,500 (o.b.o.) here in Fullerton, CA.
This is a late 1960 engine if you use the Veloce register to judge where this engine falls in the range. Good to see the original Webers and manifold to go with this engine. Priced right considering its condition.
