It is almost paradoxical that, in the year in which bats are at the lowest of their popularity, a lot of noise is generated by the sale of three very famous Alfa Romeos (but not as famous as you might imagine) called BAT, an acronym in Italian for “Berlina Aerodinamica Tecnica” (Technical Aerodynamic Sedan).

Long story short: these three cars, built in different years, constitute a study by Bertone bodywork – at the time at the peak of its popularity – on possible extreme applications on a road car: some ideas were later developed on production cars and all this thanks to the pencil of a young Franco Scaglione. We will not dwell too much on the history of these three conept cars because you will find much more complete and competent sources on the web than us; we wanted anyway to report the sale of this superb triptych in a single lot: we greatly appreciate the choice not to separate these three sisters and we would appreciate much more if the buyer were an institution that made these cars always available to everyone, it would be a shame if they were the pride of one person.
