Economy with style: 1957 Fiat 600 Rendez-Vous by Vignale

This car is one of the few survivor of the special coachbuilt series built by Vignale on the Fiat 600 chassis and engine, although often slightly tuned by Abarth. Back in the golden coachbuilders era, every new mass produced car, especially by Fiat, was a new opportunity to build something special for a restricted and tasteful clientele which wanted to emerge from the masses.

This particular car could have been in much better conditions today if only the storage roof didn’t leak: clearly this car was not leaved outside but in some storage of which the roof leaked on the car for many years. As the seller says below, the engine bay catched fire so the paint has gone since then. The rust doesn’t look terminal but it needs a good amount of work to be fixed.

Like other coachbuilt cars, there are some items which are made of unobtanium: especially the interior trims are not likely to be found on the market if they’re missing. The seller doesn’t say anything about the missing glasses: so before doing the big step ask him for all these missing parts. Find it for sale at €10,000 (today $13,500) here in Roma, Italy.

  1. Nothing leaked, the car had an engine fire. This was confirmed to me by the sellar a long time ago. The car has been on the market for well over a year in its current state.
