Yellow scorpion: 1969 Abarth Scorpione SS

The Abarth 1300 SS Scorpione is a rare and remarkable example of Abarth’s engineering prowess. Introduced in 1970, this model was among the last cars independently developed by Abarth before the brand was acquired by Fiat. The Scorpione features a modified Fiat 124 engine, enlarged to 1280cc, delivering around 100 horsepower, which, combined with its lightweight build, provides an exhilarating driving experience.

The SS variant, in particular, includes advanced suspension and all-around disc brakes, and it is said to be one of 15 actually survived. The car’s body, designed by Francis Lombardi, is sleek and low-profile, making it both agile and visually striking. Given its limited production and the fact that few examples have survived, the Abarth 1300 SS Scorpione is a highly sought-after collector’s item. Find it for sale at €65,000 (today $71,000) here in Montesilvano, Italy.
