The Borgward Isabella was a good selling hit in the US, probably due to its dimensions mated to the popular german technology and reliability. This car was a relic of that happy period.
The seller calls it “Little Isabella” and says that he has no time or money to restore it so it’s now time that the car must go to a good guy which has the will, time and money to spend on this car to bring her back to its original gleam. In the first photo the car looks like it has a set of Cragar wheels installed, which is quite odd. The car has for sure rust problems but not that bad: it misses the fuel tank and the rear light are, as the seller says, “broken and disintegrated”. Apart from these considerations the Isabella looks complete both outside and inside, and this is the first thing to check before putting your hands and wallet on a rare car like this. We have seen specimens painted with a two-tone scheme and they’re really pretty. Find it for sale at $3,500 here in Caldwell, ID.
