Originality is what all collectors desire, but few actually find. Most vintage cars from 40, 50, 60, or more years ago are either restored or rusted, and the latter kind of originality is not very intriguing.
A market especially attentive to originality is that of Porsche enthusiasts, who focus on the smallest details. Not surprisingly, in past years, some specific cars have been sold, such as an excellently preserved and completely original 356 Speedster, for over six hundred thousand dollars. This particular 356C is said to have belonged to the first owner for 10 years and to the second owner (a well-known architect, now deceased) – and spouse – for the remaining 45 years.
Belonging to a few owners often has two consequences: originality and the car’s history, which in this case includes the original tool kit and a two-inch thick folder containing photos, documents, and repair invoices spanning over 50 years. The seller adds that the car has only been repainted once in its original color, and apart from that, it’s exactly as it was when it rolled out of the factory. Find it for sale at $100,000 here in Costa Mesa, CA.
