Camo roadster: 1964 Lotus Elan S1

ScreenShot005

This 1st series Elan roadster is the quintessence of the british sports car. Light, basic and open, it weights 1300 pounds and it’s pushed by a 1558 c.c. straight-4 dohc engine fed by a couple of double-throath Webers corburetors. This particular car features a “camo” paint, due to many years of sitting outside. The seller says that it’s a former California car and it has a solid chassis. The original color is said to be “Blue Medici”.

The seller says also that this is a matching-numbers car which has been sitting through the last 20 years. The body is made of fiberglass so rust is not a problem; the chassis must be carefully inspected as it’s designed in backbone style, so it’s the main component of this car. The engine bay shows all the last 20 years of inactivity but, at last, all parts are easy to locate in the market. The new owner will have a big reward from a full restoration. Find it for sale at €16,000 (today $21,000) here in Lambesc, France
