This MG J2 is a former trial races heroine (as the b/w period photo witnesses; the car has still the same plate), and the seller provides also some papers which tell that this car won two first places in class in 1934. This car come also with many period fixing up invoices from 1933 to 1935: a very rare feature for a 80 years old car.

This car is said to have been restored during the ’70’s and so some parts are beginning to show their age, but, watching all those detailed photos that the seller provides, the car seems still in very good shape, including the two custom suitcases.

The engine is a 847 c.c. straight-4 SOHC which is capable to push this car to 65 m.p.h. The biggest trouble with this engine is related to the two (only) crankshaft bearings which can easily break if the engine is pushed too much. Obviously, as a british car this thing will give you many problems if not cared (very) well, but you’ll definitely love it. Find it for sale here in Bethel, CT, with bidding just under $20,000 and reserve not met.
