White bargain: 1961 Lancia Flaminia 2500 Convertibile by Touring

The Flaminia was Lancia’s flagship in the late 1950s and early 1960s, and the Touring-bodied convertible sits in the most exclusive part of the range: coachbuilt, elegant, and built in very limited numbers. The first-series 2.5-litre single-carburettor cars are among the rarer Flaminias, and this is the aspect that gives the model most of its interest today, more than outright performance.

This example is a white California car with tan interior and what appears to be an older restoration now settling into driver condition. From the photos, the body looks broadly straight, the trim seems largely complete, and the presentation is coherent overall. The steel wheels with simple hubcaps, the early front-end treatment and the restrained cabin all suit the character of an early Flaminia Touring convertible. The seller describes it as one of the 421 first-series single-carburettor convertibles built and presents it as a solid, honest car.

The key point is that it is not currently running and needs mechanical recommissioning. The seller also states that the engine was rebuilt about 15 years ago, but that remains a claim to verify through invoices or workshop records. The dent ahead of the right rear wheel is visible and confirms that this is not a finished cosmetic example, also because this car was clearly born grey. The engine bay looks complete but not freshly sorted, so this should be approached as a car needing more than light servicing. Before treating it as a usable touring convertible, it would make sense to check the quality and age of the earlier restoration, confirm the engine work, and inspect cooling system, brakes, fuel system and transaxle. Find it for sale at $59,500 here in Astoria, NY.
