Produced in only 3,925 units between 1970 and 1977, the Alfa Romeo Montreal represents one of the most distinctive coupés developed by Alfa Romeo during that era. The model originated from a prototype unveiled at the 1967 Montreal Expo and was later commercialized with Bertone bodywork and a V8 engine derived from the brand’s racing experience.
According to the seller, the car described here is an Italian-delivered example that was never exported. It was de-registered due to inactivity and re-registered in 1991 by the current owner. On that occasion, the vehicle underwent a comprehensive restoration: the bodywork was completely repainted in Nero 901, a color in which very few examples have been seen to date, while the mechanical components received extensive and documented work. Again according to the seller, maintenance was carried out by AFRA of Milan, a workshop specialized in Alfa Romeo models, with invoices dated 2002 and 2016. The work included the replacement of all engine gaskets, filters, fluids, the timing chain, the front bellhousing of the gearbox, and the injectors. The thermostat, SPICA mechanical injection pump, and the electrical system were also overhauled and restored to full working order. The seller reports that around 60 hours of professional labor were dedicated to these interventions, aimed at making the vehicle reliable and safe.
After the mechanical work was completed, the car returned to Sicily, where – according to the information provided – it has been stored indoors, under cover, and maintained as needed. The bodywork is described as showing only slight, almost invisible imperfections, with no signs of penetrating rust. The original interior, in a mix of fabric and black imitation leather, is said to be intact and well-preserved, including the dashboard, plastics, and panels. The seller notes only minor tears on the gearshift and handbrake boots. A single original removable headrest is included. Find it for sale at €69,900 (today $81,000) here in Palermo, Italy.
