Long Island survivor: 1962 Chevrolet Corvette

If you want to have the chance to win the Preservation Class award at the next concours you take part in, this might be the car for you.

The seller actually says that the last time this car was driven was in 1971 and, if you think about it, that really is many years ago by now. In fact, it’s a world that is now very far away in every sense. The positive side is that this Corvette is a real time capsule, with paint that, although not original (it was originally red), is now also completely faded, original interior, original soft top, an interior so original that you can smell it from the photos.

Obviously, the car doesn’t start, and that’s a good thing: the engine oil will by now have become water, the air filter will be a wasp condominium, and in the fuel tank there will be mud, not to mention the brakes, which will need to be rebuilt. And yet, if there are no serious rust problems on the frame, it would take little to get this example back on the road, to spark the curiosity of passersby and the admiration of enthusiasts. Find it for sale at $39,000 here in Lindenhurst, NY.
