Cromodora wheels: 1969 Alfa Romeo Spider 1750

The seller of this beautiful 1750 Spider (also known as the “Graduate,” a name borrowed from the 1967 masterpiece film of the same name, starring a brilliant Dustin Hoffman) says the car is in original condition.

He states that it has never been in an accident or repaired, that it has zero rust, and that the paint is still original. Naturally, all these claims should be verified—not because we doubt the seller’s good faith, but because some details can escape the eye of anyone who isn’t a skilled bodywork specialist. That said, the photos appear to support these statements. After all, the car is said to come from the West Coast, presumably from Southern California.

The seller also says that the car has benefited from new springs, a new soft top, tires, and exhaust. The interior is in good condition, although the vinyl on one seat is tearing—but the car comes with two new seat covers as well. Last but not least, in addition to the beautiful set of Cromodora wheels currently installed, the car also comes with the original steel wheels and hubcaps. All this at a price that, if the claims hold true, we wouldn’t hesitate to call very fair. Find it for sale at $35,000 here in Tysons Corner, Washington D.C.

  1. The front end has been reworked. The area of “bump”in the nose panel right above the crest is flat. Typical front end accident repair as the “bump” was extremely difficult to reproduce by hand. Proper repair would involve welding in a replacement nose section. The wheels are from later S2 spiders, not rare or special. A set in good condition can run $400, so really a dime a dozen. These are just 2 takeaways from a quick glance. More could be possibly found under a much closer scrutiny
