Michelotti’s version: 1961 Moretti 600 Sport Spider

The Moretti 600 Sport Spider, based on the Fiat 600, is a classic Italian sports car known for its distinctive styling and limited production.

The car featured unique coachwork by Giovanni Michelotti, a renowned car designer who worked extensively with Moretti to create stylish versions of Fiat models. This particular model was known for its elegance and sporty design, which was quite popular in the small sports car segment during that era. The Moretti 600 Sport Spider is equipped with a 748 cc engine capable of producing about 28.86 horsepower, providing a modest but spirited driving experience typical of Italian sports cars from that period. It has a 4-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive, with both front and rear drum brakes.

This example appears to be unrestored, or at least not fully restored for quite some time, and it retains a certain patina. Noteworthy are some uncommon details: the seats are the same as those in the Flaminia Touring, while the steering wheel is a beautiful and very rare Franco Conti, a small company from southern Italy that closed its doors at the end of the 1960s. There is certainly some work to be done, but the reality is that this little car could very well be used as it is, after a minor mechanical revision. Find it for sale at €35,000 (today $37,000) here in Reggio Emilia, Italy.

  1. I have a single cam Moretti engine available minus the intake manifold/carb. It has a low serial number. Get in touch with me if you know someone that is interested.
