Unknown coachbuilder: 1975 Alfa Romeo Giulia Diesel “Soccorso stradale”

We don’t know exactly in which year and by which coachbuilder this Giulia station wagon dedicated to roadside assistance was built.

The year is unspecified by the seller, who mentions 1975, but it seems improbable, given that the production of the car had ended five years prior. The license plate also dates back to 1975, so we assume the seller refers to the year of the last registration.

Furthermore, the coachbuilder is not specified. In Italy during those years, four coachbuilders were known for transforming Giulia sedans into station wagons: Colli, Giorgetti, Grazia and Introzzi. Hence, there is a 25% chance of guessing the correct name. Apart from historical details, it’s worth noting that this Giulia is equipped with a 1760 cc diesel engine, certainly slow, very slow, but indestructible. Find it for sale here in La Spezia, Italy.

  1. Usually Giulia SW producer could be recognized by rear door frame shape and hinges.

What’s unusual is the half soft top openable roof, for an assistance car.
Not so many details about the Diesel engine, but gauges are Giulia and derivates look, and tailored for that kind: rev counter has a shorter scale, and “GASOLIO” in Italian is Diesel fuel.
