South American: 1951 Porsche 356 Cabriolet

This early 356 Cabriolet crossed the ocean when new, as its first owner was Argentine (or lived in Argentina), and since then, it has traveled almost around the world.

In fact, it was purchased in the 1980s by its second German owner, who restored it in 1990. The seller says that this was the first in a series of restorations that eventually brought this car to the condition we see it now, in the characteristic Pascha Red color, typical of the early 1950s, with a nice combination with the tan interior and a soft top in the same color.

Now, the seller does not mention a matching numbers engine, so we cannot assert whether it is (or isn’t), and we don’t know the extensive list of details to check that only some of the greatest 356 experts are able to detect. Still, the overall look of the car is fantastic, and, above all, as you go back in time, these cars become exponentially rarer, so we think it’s right to showcase it. Find it for sale at $389,500 here in Astoria, NY.
