Patina monster/10: 1956 Porsche 356 Speedster

There are not many classic cars on which even a heavy patina like this does not detract from their charm, indeed, in this case it is an important plus.

Above all because it is the patina of a car born for the road and later, probably in the 70s and 80s, and was adapted to compete in the SCCA, and perhaps this was its luck because otherwise it could have been abandoned in some courtyard to decompose until it was no longer recoverable.

Instead, someone recovered it – at best it had been standing still for at least twenty years – and fortunately they didn’t restore it. Fortunately because at the end of the restoration this would be a Speedster like the others: full of charm, sure, but without that X factor that elevates it above the others. Of course, glamor doesn’t come cheap, and this is hardly the exception to the rule. Find it for sale at €349,000 (today $388,000) here in Erlecom, Netherlands.
