When Italian classic car enthusiasts hear the name “Appia Vignale” they naturally think of the convertible version: they would be surprised to see this sedan instead.
We collected out thoughts but this actually seems to us the first time we see this model offered for sale: we remember having seen it in a book about Italian coachbuilders but we did not think some examples still existed. “Some” then is a big word, it would not surprise us to know that what this announcement is about is the only surviving example of those few built on the basis of Michelotti’s modifications.
The most striking thing about this car then is the feeling of originality that it oozes: apart from the original black plate, the whole car looks entirely original and probably never restored – with the exception of course some details here and there – and with all external and internal ornaments in place. This is a car that may not surprise the passer-by but will certainly impress the connoisseur. Find it for sale at €35,000 (today $40,000) here in Vicenza, Italy.
According to this website the Vignale Berlina was a “one-off”. https://www.carrozzieri-italiani.com/listing/lancia-appia-vignale/
It appears to be only a trim and paint differences from the standard factory model.
