The fastest one: 1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider Veloce

ScreenShot002

This 1965 Giulia Spider Veloce (type 101.18) is one of only 1,091 made between 1964 and 1965. This model is the cutting edge of the Giulietta Spider family, featuring a 1570 c.c. twin cam engine (type 121) fed by a couple of Weber carburetors, and front disc brakes. Basically, the engine was the same installed on the Giulia Sprint Speciale.

This particular car is in almost concours conditions: the seller says that it made only 800 kms after the restoration end. It is painted in “Grigio Grafite” (graphite grey) with red interiors, which is a correct factory match.

There is not much to review on a car in such conditions; even the hose clips are correct and the paint is a show quality job. We really like this color combo, much more refined than the obvious red/black combo. Maybe, and please don’t laugh now, the only incorrect details could be the spark plug wires (should be green) and the radiator cap which shouldn’t be squared. Said so, this car looks like a dream. Not the same for the price, which is nearest to a nightmare but, seeing the prices which some Giulietta (way far to be perfect) have fetched lately, this is fair for such car. Find it for sale at €67,000 (today $87,500) here in Capriolo, Italy.
