Czech ingenuity: 1947 Magda III Sport 1100 Compressore

Founded in 1936 by passionate racer Jaroslav Vlcek, the Magda marque was named after his wife, who often accompanied him on the track. The Magda III was conceived with an ambitious vision for international success: a lightweight racer—just 400 kg—capable of reaching speeds of 200 km/h.

Built on a tubular chassis reminiscent of the BMW 328, this extraordinary car features a supercharged FIAT 1089 cc engine delivering a thrilling 90 horsepower at 6000 rpm. Driven initially by Czech driver Uher and later by Vlcek’s friend Pasch, the Magda III competed in multiple German and Czechoslovak events from 1949 onward, earning a reputation as a formidable contender. In 1950, the car was sold to Svoboda, who achieved remarkable results, even besting Maserati 4CMs at the Grand Prix of Brno.

Transported to Italy in 1958 for a series of races, the Magda III was eventually sold and lay dormant for decades. Discovered ten years ago, it has been meticulously restored with help from dedicated Czechoslovak enthusiasts. Retaining all original parts, including the supercharger, this magnificent machine still sports its iconic red tubular frame and white body—true to its early 1950s appearance. Completely overhauled in both mechanics and electrics, the Magda III is poised to shine at top vintage car events worldwide. Find it for sale at €139,000 (today $145,000) here in Reggio Emilia, Italy.
