Rarely does “small” equate to “frightening,” but in this case, we feel an exception is warranted.
This 1974 Innocenti Mini, one of those produced by Innocenti (the same company that made the Lambretta scooter, to be clear) under license from Morris, has undergone a heart transplant that transformed it in the best imaginable way: instead of the original engine, there is now a 1600cc Honda 4-cylinder unit with V-TEC technology. We don’t know its power output, but even conservatively, we can consider at least 120hp.
No further modifications are indicated, so we can only speculate based on what we can observe from the photos: the suspension, wheels, and brakes have been modified to handle the engine’s power, and there are surely a myriad of other hidden details; the interior, however, with the exception of the steering wheel, has (pleasantly) remained original. This is certainly not the first experiment of its kind done on a Mini, but we are always pleasantly surprised when we see one. Find it for sale at €30,000 (today $32,500) here in Reggio Emilia, Italy.
