The open version: 1966 Glas 1700 GT Cabriolet by Frua

If you’re a connoisseur of rare classic cars, then the Glas 1700 GT is sure to catch your eye. As one of the rarest German sports car icons, only 122 examples of this vehicle were built through a Bavarian-Italian collaboration.

The convertible body, designed by Pietro Frua and manufactured in Italy, is plenty of Italian elegance and style. Meanwhile, the mechanics and assembly were expertly handled by Glas in Dingolfing, Germany. This particular example is one of the later models, making it even more special. It’s equipped with a very rare 5-speed sport transmission. The car also features V8 wheels with wide rims, enhancing both its aesthetic appeal and its road performance. To top it off, the car comes with a Becker Europa radio, a desirable feature for any classic car lover.

The Glas 1700 GT was under the care of its previous owner for 24 years, during which it was completely rebuilt by a restorer specializing in Glas and BMW vehicles. The restoration process was meticulous. New parts from the stock of the Glas Club International were utilized, and a strict policy was followed to use only tin instead of filler material, ensuring the highest quality. Both the engine and transmission were entirely overhauled, bringing them back to peak condition. The seller says that, since the restoration, this beautiful Glas 1700 GT has only been driven 3,000 kilometers, mostly for outings with the Glas Club. Find it for sale at €79,500 (today $87,000) here in Berlin, Germany.
