Chicago ’74: 1967 Shelby Mustang GT 500

Chicago was the last city to see its streets graced by this GT500, and it was exactly 50 years ago when it was parked and never used again.

This Shelby Mustang has been parked in a Chicago-area garage since 1976 and hasn’t been driven since 1974. The car’s original Ford VIN number is 7R02Q213641, verifying its San Jose plant origin, while the Shelby VIN is 67400F5A03116. The odometer reads 30,427 miles, believed to be original. The engine is partially disassembled, with original parts found in the trunk for reassembly. The car retains its original Dark Moss green paint, but the engine compartment has been spray-painted blue, and there’s graffiti on the driver’s side. The interior is mostly intact, but some modifications and damage are evident.

The engine, although partially disassembled, can freely roll over. Original components and replacement parts are included, though some are missing. The car’s exterior shows signs of wear, with scratches, repairs, and touch-ups. The underside has been treated with undercoating, preserving it in certain areas. The interior, complete with the roll bar, has some damage, including a mouse-chewed headliner and speaker holes in the trunk panel. The car is in fair conditions for its age, however there’s still much work to do here to bring her back to the street. Find it for sale here in Grand Rapids, MI, with bidding at $60,000 and reserve met.
