The trend of “Woody” cars was not exclusive to North America; Italians were already embracing it in the 1930s with the Fiat 500B and later with cars like this splendid Aurelia B53.
By the early 1950s, this trend was on the decline, yet some nostalgics continued to commission cars with wooden body parts from carrozzerie. Viotti, particularly experienced with “Giardinetta” (station wagon) versions, embraced this trend.
The seller mentions that only 53 cars like this were produced, and most of them are no longer around. The remaining ones are probably less than two handfuls, with this specific car being one of them. Restored by KCA Giancarlo Cappa near Milan, Italy, a renowned expert in Lancia classic restoration, the car retains its original interior, while the rest, even three decades after restoration, appears to be in exceptional condition. Find it for sale here in Brusaporto, Italy. Thanks to Kyle for this tip!
