The seller of this red Mercedes Benz 190 SL says that it has been a ‘shop barn find’ and, based on the evidence found, it has been parked since 1981.
The fact that it has been stationary for so long brings both good and bad news: on one hand, the car hasn’t been exposed to weather conditions for the last 40 years, which means the bodywork has benefited, leading to potentially less expenditure at a specialized body shop before getting it back on the road. On the other hand, it also means that many mechanical parts will need overhauling as they are either non-functional or, at the very least, no longer reliable.
Another positive piece of information, according to the seller, is that the car has matching numbers, it runs and drives, it still has its original wheels, although at the time of the photos, the car is equipped with horrible ’70s pickup truck rims. The interiors are complete – except for the radio – and in general, the car seems not to be missing any of its parts.
