It doesn’t take too long before a special car built for racing emerges, typically crafted as a one-off by some obscure, more or less known coachbuilder.
Generally, these special cars were built on a Fiat platform. In this specific case, they were based on the Fiat 500B, whose versatile chassis was widely used by street racing car tuners throughout the 1950s. Speaking of coachbuilders, we’ve done some research, but this Zabora bodywork doesn’t appear in our records or online. In this regard, we invite anyone who knows more about it to share such information with us and other readers.
This Barchetta, as previously mentioned, has a Fiat 500B chassis. However, it doesn’t have the original engine; instead, it’s equipped with a narrow Lancia V4, likely sourced from a first-series Appia. The rest of the car features the typical setup of sports cars from that period: two dry seats, minimal instrumentation without excessive embellishments. We’re pleased to see a color choice that, for once, isn’t red. Last but not least, the original black license plate is still present. Find it for sale here in Reggio Emilia, Italy.
