Italian dress: 1958 Dual-Ghia Convertible

The Dual-Ghia has been one of the many hybrids tentatives involving italian craftsmanship and american muscle; probably it was the first attempt in doing it. Obviously, because of the cost of realizing a body in Italy, shipping the engine and mechanical parts and then shipping back the car in U.S., these cars were quite unaffordable by most people.

This car is equipped with a Mopar D500 Hemi engine, producing 230 h.p. and backed by a lumpy 2 speed Powerflight transmission. The seller says that the former owner began a restoration process which never came to the end. He says that it was born in a red/white color combo and that it’s 99% complete with all the parts. Indeed it seems a solid a complete car which doesn’t need so much work to be completed, that’s just about money and time (as usual).

Interiors look complete and in quite good shape, although they need a total refurbishing. We don’t like so much the lines of this huge convertible but we must admit that this car has stance and once finished it will be a real head turner. The seller has posted also a link to RM website to show what the final value of a restored car like this could be, so we are pretty sure that the reserve price is way far from the starting price. Find it here in Exeter, NH, with a starting bid at $100,000 and reserve price not met.
