Red and grey: 1965 Honda S600 Spider

This Honda S600 Roadster presents itself as a complete and rust-free restoration project—a nice opportunity for enthusiasts of early Japanese sports cars. The car is offered as a full project but comes complete, including its original hardtop. The seller says that the engine head shows no cracks—a rarity for this model. The crankshaft is said to rotate freely and smoothly. Oversized pistons are included, while the cylinder liners remain at original specification.

This is an original Swiss-market S600. The first attempt at restoring the car began as far back as 1972, with the engine bay painted blue before work came to a halt. From that point on, the car was kept dry and warm, safely stored in a heated garage until it changed hands in 2019, passing through Ronny Lucassen. The current owner had intended to restore and enjoy the car over time but has now decided to part with it due to shifting priorities. Despite the project being unfinished, several components have already been professionally restored. The dashboard trim has been refurbished, and both the speedometer and tachometer have been overhauled. These are costly and time-consuming tasks, now already completed.

Included in the sale is an inventory of original parts, a rarity for such projects: type 1 emblems, original mirrors, a tonneau cover, convertible top (usable as a pattern), the complete wiring harness, brake and fuel lines, the driveshaft, the original spare wheel, and a full set of four brand-new Maxxis whitewall tires in the correct size. Crucially, the car retains its original S600 wheels—unlike many examples that have been fitted with later S800 rims. Original books are also part of the package. Find it for sale at €18,500 (today $22,000) here in Boxmeer, Netherlands.
