The 1957 Seat 1400 Spider prototype is a fiberglass-bodied two-seater sports car based on the Seat 1400 A. Designed by Ceplastica, later known as Formica, it was the first composite fiberglass car built in Spain.
The chassis and mechanical components are derived from the Fiat 1400, as was the case with the Seat 1400 A. The body was entirely redesigned, with the driving position moved further back and the four-speed gearbox relocated to the floor. Weighing 900 kg, the car features a 1400cc engine and rear-wheel drive.
The styling closely resembles that of the Siata Daina Sport, with smooth lines and proportions typical of Italian sports cars from the same era. This is the first time we see this vehicle, as its existence was unknown to us until now. It has 48,761 km on the odometer and has undergone a full engine rebuild along with new upholstery. Previously exhibited in a museum, it remains in beautiful condition. Find it for sale at €58,000 (today $63,000) here in Foecy, France.
