Not for road use: 1952 Nardi-Carrù 500 F3

Every now and then, a very special car like this one emerges from the darkness after decades of slumber, and when that happens, we love to bear witness.

In this case, calling it “rare” would be an understatement: we’d wager it’s a one-of-a-kind vehicle built around a Nardi tubular frame, an aluminum body, and a 500 cc twin-cylinder overhead-cam engine produced by Giuseppe Carrù’s Praecision workshop—of which we are only now learning.

It was probably one of those many small workshops that sprang up amid the post-war automotive enthusiasm. There were countless such ventures, and most of them were born and died without leaving any written record. Fortunately, this car comes with some documentation. The mechanical components are partially disassembled, but the seller claims everything is complete. Restoring this car is akin to restoring a vintage mechanical watch, and the final result would certainly be worth the effort. Find it for sale at €60,000 (today $63,000) here in Lonato Del Garda, Italy.
