Indeed, 1500 cc might not seem like a large engine displacement, but considering that the common Italian car at the time had an engine of 875 cc, this was a car with a six-cylinder engine and almost double the displacement: not as expensive as an Alfa Romeo, but certainly not a car for everyone.
Moreover, this wasn’t a standard Fiat 1500; it was a special version built by one of the most renowned Italian coachbuilders, active from the beginning of the last century until 1954, when it closed for good: we’re talking about Carrozzeria Balbo.
We don’t know how many of these special cars were made, but we estimate fewer than 10, and if someone were to tell us that this is the only one of its kind still in existence, we would have no trouble believing it. In fact, it’s already a miracle that this example has survived intact to this day. The condition seems quite original: we don’t know if this car has ever been restored, but the interiors seem original, and the exterior paint doesn’t appear shiny, yet it undoubtedly adds to the charm of this very special vehicle.
