Patchwork: 1965 Citroen DS21 Cabriolet

The Citroën DS21 Cabriolet was first introduced in 1965. This model was part of the broader DS series launched by Citroën in 1955, which continued to evolve with new models and features until the end of production in 1975.

Styled by Italian sculptor and industrial designer Flaminio Bertoni in collaboration with André Lefèbvre, the DS series stood out for its aerodynamic, futuristic body lines, which were quite revolutionary at the time. It was powered by a 2.1-liter four-cylinder engine that was more powerful than the engines in earlier DS models. It delivered better performance and could handle the car’s sophisticated hydraulic systems, which powered the brakes, steering, and suspension, as well as the automatic transmission’s clutch.

We know nothing about this particular car (neither the year, so we have supposed 1965) as the description is missing. The seller is a specialist in Citroën DS models, so we have no doubts about the correctness of the car; however, it requires a lot of work. It currently has a “patchwork” appearance due to some parts being replaced or painted to prevent corrosion, to the extent that we cannot discern its original color: probably red, but we wouldn’t bet on it. It is certainly a very interesting project for a car that, if restored, is splendid. Find it for sale here in Tournus, France. Thanks to Fluc for this tip!
