Timeless worker: 1955 Alfa Romeo Autotutto by Orlandi

Introduced as the first in a series of three—the “Romeo”, “Romeo 2”, and “Romeo 3″—the original “Romeo” van was produced between 1954 and 1956, making it a rare gem in today’s collector market. This particular van, was commissioned by the Ceruti household appliance company from Toscolano Maderno, Italy.

Configured to meet the specific needs of a bustling household appliance business, it showcases an era when functionality met classic design effortlessly. The vehicle’s journey from an essential business tool to a preserved historical artifact offers a glimpse into the past, where every nick and scratch tells a tale of its utilitarian life. The commitment to preserving the originality of the 1955 “Romeo” van is evident in every aspect of its restoration. The exterior, adorned with original graphics and a patina that only time can create, remains as authentic as when it first rolled out of Carrozzeria Orlandi’s workshop. Special attention was given to the chrome and unique details during the restoration, meticulously dismantled, restored, and reinstalled to ensure historical accuracy.

The interior tells a similar story of careful preservation. Every panel of the passenger and load compartments was dismantled, restored, or appropriately recovered to maintain the van’s historical integrity. Under the hood, the original Alfa Romeo engine—with matching numbers certified by Alfa Romeo—has been lovingly maintained. Although the van has traveled just 280 kilometers since its restoration and is sparingly used, a recent mechanical overhaul ensures it remains roadworthy. Find it for sale here in Quarrata, Italy, with bidding at €6,500 and no reserve price. Thanks to Fluc for this tip!
