Desert hybrid: 1960 Fiat 1200 Spider

Are classic Fiats beautiful but slow? No problem, in this case, someone has decided to solve this issue once and for all.

When we first saw the listing, it seemed like the typical Fiat Spider with the bumpers removed to give it a sportier look. However, upon closer inspection, we realized that more radical changes have been made to this vehicle.

We don’t know if the current seller and owner were the architects of this transformation, but the fact remains that a 2.6-liter Mitsubishi engine and its five-speed transmission have been transplanted into this small spider. Naturally, purists might be astonished, and yet even this radical modification can make sense in the sense that the increase in power encourages more use of these cars, rather than leaving them, as well-maintained as they may be, in the darkness of a garage. Not to mention that such a vehicle would undoubtedly attract users who are not necessarily classic car enthusiasts. Find it for sale at $15,000 here in Tonopah, NV.
