We all know how challenging it is to find a Fiat in the USA dating back to pre-1960s, let alone a model like this that is already rare in Europe.
Every time we come across a car like this, we wonder about its history and the journey that brought it across the ocean because, although it’s a beautiful car, 40 or more years ago, it wasn’t considered a prestigious vehicle like a Ferrari or a Maserati. Instead, it was a unique car built on the basis of a “humble” Fiat 1100E, which was the car of the middle-class family in Italy during the late 1940s and early 1950s.
Clearly, this was a more “enhanced” and expensive version, of which very few examples were made. We have absolutely no idea how many were produced, but intuition suggests a number between 100 and 200 units, most of which are no longer with us. This car is in the midst of a restoration, or perhaps even further along. Certainly, the worst part has been completed (according to the seller, countless hours were spent finding missing parts, and we believe it) and it seems to be drivable in its current state. We note the engine bay has a kit for a dual carburetor (Nardi or Abarth) and the beautifully restored Deco style instrumentation inside a green interior, which, along with the black exterior, makes for a stunning color combination, and it’s period-correct for the car.
