50 years owned: 1965 TVR Griffith 200

We’ve always wondered what it would be like to drive a car the size of a slipper and the weight of a sofa, powered by a 289 cubic inch (4700 cc) V8 engine.

It will probably be challenging to get an answer to such a question for two fundamental reasons: the first is that we don’t have the financial means to satisfy our curiosities every time they come to mind, and the second is that these are very rare cars, and it’s not easy to find them for sale. In particular, this is one of the 200 produced (you can imagine for yourself how many have survived, as with such a powerful engine and such a short wheelbase, most probably ended up against a tree or a wall), SN 200/5/169, with its original engine built to HiPo specifications (thus more powerful than the standard one) according to the first owner’s specifications.

In addition to this, the seller mentions that the engine has been rebuilt to more extreme specifications, using high-compression pistons and different camshafts. This engine probably delivers no less than 300 horsepower, which is not bad at all even by today’s standards. The seller also states that the car was restored a few years ago and that he is the third owner. In addition to the photos, there is also a reference to a video walkaround of the vehicle. Find it for sale at $120,000 here in Millsboro, DE.
