Black and light: 1963 Renault Estafette 800

It’s no secret that we have a soft spot for minivans (along with a soft spot for any other classic cars, let’s be honest), and this French specimen is in really good condition.

This is a member of the Estafette line, born in 1959 and the ancestor of a lineage of light commercial vehicles whose production ended in 1980, produced in many versions dedicated to specific tasks. In particular, the 800 series was introduced in the spring of 1962 and was equipped with the 1108 cc engine that powered the Renault 8, which made its debut that year. With its 45 HP maximum power, the Estafette 800 could afford better performance and could therefore carry a heavier load more easily. The maximum speed reached around 95 km/h.

However, as we all know, the very first series of any vehicle is always the best, perhaps not from a technical point of view but from the perspective of design purity: this second series is aesthetically identical (with few, negligible differences) to the first series and, as the owner says, it has benefited from a very long restoration process that began in 2010. In fact, even from the undercarriage photos, it appears that all the angles of this vehicle have been restored. Last but not least, this van has four seats, in addition to a very spacious loading platform. Find it for sale at €19,000 (today $20,000) here in Meurthe et Moselle, France.
