Bizzarrini was certainly a dreamer, but he also had to face the reality of being an entrepreneur. He understood that few could afford the Queen, the 5300GT Strada, so he decided to create a more “accessible” version, the 1900 GT Europa.
This 1967 Bizzarrini 1900 GT Europa, registered in Italy in 1968, is a remarkable example of Italian engineering and design, meticulously crafted by the legendary Giotto Bizzarrini. Exceptionally well-preserved and original in every detail, this car features an ultralight fiberglass body, weighing just 650 kg.Under the hood lies a 1900cc Opel-derived engine, upgraded to deliver 110 horsepower. The engine is strategically positioned at the front, just before the wheel axis, to maintain a perfectly balanced center of gravity.
The car’s independent suspension, combined with a limited-slip differential, ensures precise handling. Although the original “OTO Melara” differential is preserved and stored separately, a BMW differential has been installed for enhanced performance since the first one is said to be quite unreliable. Equipped with four ventilated disc brakes by Campagnolo, this Bizzarrini is said to be one of only 12 produced by Giotto Bizzarrini and his team before the premature closure of his company, making it an exceptionally rare barn find. Find it at €180,000 (today $202,000) here in Ferrara, Italy.
